Who we are

DataGroceries, the community content provider, is a provider of worldwide data related to sharing means of transportation and bringing people together. Originated and registered in the Netherlands, DataGroceries is a worldwide operating company consisting of two managing directors and a small group of employees.

History

Although started as a hitchhikers website, DataGroceries has now grown into a company that collects and offers data to a large number of partners. In 1999 the website www.hitchhikers.org was launched. A group of 6 enthousiastic hitchhikers decided to built this site since they couldn't find a website that fullfilled their requirements. Within a year the first partners started using data from the hitchhikers.org database on their own websites. Because more database-subjects besides ridesharing were developed and more partners showed interest in building front-ends to the database the owners formed the company called DataGroceries in june 2001. Now www.hitchhikers.org has become one of the front-ends to DataGroceries' ridesharing database.

Mission

The mission of datagroceries is to improve the level of service to the end-users by enlarging the number of entries in the databases. To achieve this, datagroceries is trying to find as many partners as possible. Besides this datagroceries has taken on the task to ensure the quality of the content.
